Confirmation statement
[CONTENT REVIEW] A confirmation statement checks that the company information on the public register is current. It is separate from annual accounts.

This is the date the official sources were checked, not an approval date.
Who needs to do this, and who is responsible?
[CONTENT REVIEW] Every company, including a dormant company, must file. Directors retain legal responsibility even when an accountant handles the filing. Agree who will submit it and check the register first.
When is it due?
[CONTENT REVIEW] File at least once every 12 months, within 14 days after the review period ends. Check the company's actual statement date on Companies House.
What does it cost?
[CONTENT REVIEW] The first statement in a 12-month payment period costs £50 online or £110 on paper. Extra statements in that payment period do not attract another fee.
What you need
- [CONTENT REVIEW] Company sign-in details and company authentication code.
- [CONTENT REVIEW] Each director's verified identity and personal code; keep these codes secure.
How to do it
- [CONTENT REVIEW] Check the registered details and report changes that must be filed separately.
- [CONTENT REVIEW] Use the official filing service and confirm the statement details, including the lawful-activities declaration.
- [CONTENT REVIEW] Provide the required director identity details, pay any fee and submit.
What happens if it is late?
[CONTENT REVIEW] Late or missing statements can lead to financial penalties and the company being struck off. A statement cannot be filed until all directors have verified their identities.
